Kristina Dillon is a senior at Ithaca College's Roy H. Park School of Communications in Ithaca, New York. She is pursuing a B.A. degree in journalism and a minor in politics. Originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, she grew up with a single mother and is an only child. From a young age, she learned that curiosity, confidence, and a strong work ethic are essential qualities.

 

Kristina is passionate about learning and has found that she excels in writing, communications, and public speaking. She has improving proficiency in speaking French and is proficient in Microsoft Office software. She also has knowledge of video and audio editing using Adobe Premiere Pro and Edius software and is able to shoot visual packages using a variety of cameras. At Ithaca College, she has been involved in Ithaca College Television, where she has anchored, reported, and produced several shows. Additionally, she worked as a tour guide for Ithaca's Office of Admissions and in retail off-campus.

 

Her interest in pursuing a career in journalism solidified at the end of high school because she values connecting with others and prioritizes sharing truthful stories through writing and multimedia. Kristina has completed internships with 5 Minutes Media, a nonprofit social media journalism outlet in Paris, France, during her study abroad semester in Spring 2024, and with NBC Sports in Stamford, Connecticut, as an operations intern for the Paris Olympics in Summer 2024. Throughout her senior year at Ithaca, she has served as both a fall intern and the current spring intern for WBNG-TV, the CBS affiliate in Binghamton, NY. There, she usually handles a package and a VOSOT during each shift, taking charge of shooting, scripting, and editing those herself, in addition to being assigned breaking news assignments and live hits. 

 

After graduation, she intends to work as a reporter for a local news station. She hopes to use her love of travel and exploration of different communities to foster and encourage local journalism moving forward in today's world.
