I enjoyed being an editor. For all these reasons, I thought I'd appreciate it, it definitely proved true. I liked going through each story and editing for clarity, brainstorming ideas, and being able to read excellent work by the reporters.

Each of them did a fantastic job, and all I had to do was edit to help improve because they were already great.

Sebastian struck with his theme of event coverage but was able to make it enticing. Kinsey focused on re-affirming Ithaca's sanctuary statuses and did a fantastic job explaining why that matters. Lucretius took something nuanced and made it digestible to the reader. Sam tackled a challenging topic with grace. Each reporter story that was published to Ithaca Week is hyperlinked to their name, so check them out!

It was also fun to promote their stories and conduct their reporter interviews. It was nice to hear in their own words what they felt were the strengths and weaknesses of their stories were, and offer advice to aspiring journalists. I found it easy to post to the IW socials. Once I did it once, it was simple. It showed me how easily it would be to do that with my work!

I guess through this editing round I realized I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It also showed me the value of a second pair of eyes. Having someone read it entirely outside the story is really helpful to see where it can be improved.
